A former Vancouver Canucks forward has been traded in the National Hockey League with just a few days to go until the opening night of the 2025-26 season.

Teams around the National Hockey League are busy preparing their rosters for the start of the 2025-26 season, including the Vancouver Canucks, who have some difficult decisions to make in the next few days.
As Vancouver ponders what they're going to do in terms of their roster, one of their former players, who fans loved during his time in British Columbia, has found himself a new home in the National Hockey League after being traded.

In a press release on their official website on Friday, the New Jersey Devils announced that they've acquired former Vancouver Canucks forward Zack MacEwen from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for former Stanley Cup champion Kurtis MacDermid.
"The New Jersey Devils announced today that the team has acquired forward Zack MacEwen in a trade with the Ottawa Senators in exchange for forward Kurtis MacDermid. The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald." The Devils said.

MacEwen, a native of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, began his professional hockey career in the Vancouver Canucks organization after the club signed him as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2017.
The 29-year-old went on to make 55 appearances at the NHL level with the Vancouver Canucks, putting up nine points (six goals, three assists), 69 penalty minutes and had an even-rating.
In October 2021, as the Canucks were getting their roster ready for the new season, then-General Manager Jim Benning decided to place the gritty forward on the NHL's waiver wire, where he was claimed by the Philadelphia Flyers.
Since leaving Vancouver, MacEwen has suited up for Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Kings, Ottawa Senators and in a matter of days, the New Jersey Devils, where he'll most certainly act as the team's bodyguard for star forward Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier.
