Joshua looking at a massive pay raise: Insider leaks his next cap hit
Dakota Joshua has been playing at a 22-goal, 42-point pace this season both of which would obliterate his previous career-highs of 11 goals and 23 points.
Recently highlighted by a two-goal performance against the Anaheim Ducks, which included a gorgeous between-the-legs power play goal, one thing is evident Joshua is certainly in line to receive a significant pay raise when he becomes a free agent on July 1st.
The Michigan native is still just 27-years-old and has placed the Canucks in a tough situation where they may not have the necessary cap space to facilitate his next contract.
If the Canucks thought they were getting Joshua in the 2's [millions], it's not going to happen.
Joshua's given his agent, Rich Evans, a ton of ammunition for contract talks. He will get over $3 million on July 1st.
The Canucks have already committed significant money towards the likes of Quinn Hughes, Brock Boeser, J.T. Miller, and finally Elias Pettersson. It remains to be seen if the team can make a contract work with Joshua as he enters free agency following a breakout season.
