Patrik Allvin admitted that the Canucks were involved in conversations for every quality player up for grabs at the trade deadline, but yet, nothing materialized.

After seeing the elevated number of assets involved in the Jake Guentzel deal, everybody understood why Allvin backed down. However, it caused pretty consternation when Tyler Toffoli was traded from the Devils to the Jets for a 2nd and 3rd Round Pick.
Since he moved to Winnipeg, the former Canuck has been lighting it up with on-ice solid performances. He added to his resume again this afternoon:
Another two-goal night for Tyler Toffoli 2⃣

NHL ISSUES A STATEMENT ON TOFFOLI
Since joining the Jets, Toffoli has had four goals and has assisted through his first four games. The number 73 has already entered Franchise history:
Tyler Toffoli became the third player in Jets/Thrashers history to score four goals in his first four games with the franchise following
Patrik Laine (2016-17) and Shawn McEachern (2002-03)

BAD LOOK ON THE CANUCKS?
Known to be the runner-up in the Toffoli derby, it's not looking good for the Canucks. Especially since everybody knew Toffoli would be a steal at the price of a 2nd and a 3rd.
The Canucks could have used an experienced winger like Toffoli in their top six, but Allvin deemed that the price had gotten too elevated for the Canucks. Now he's piling up the points in Winnipeg instead.
