A new blockbuster trade proposal has once again surfaced involving Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes getting sent over to the New Jersey Devils to play with his brothers Jack and Luke Hughes.
Jim Rutherford made the «Quinn Hughes to New Jersey» rumors very real.
This is insane and would be amazing for the New Jersey Devils.
The 2025-2025 NHL Canucks season was one to forget, but the lasting impacts of the drama surrounding the team may come to affect the teams most valuable players when deciding if this is where they want to stay for the rest of their careers.
Quinn Hughes Dealt to the New Jersey Devils in Block Buster trade Proposal
During the end of season press conference with president of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford and General manager Patrik Allvin, a
a major mistake was made with Quinn Hughes when they disclosed there is a real chance him departing once his contract expires in 2027.
"It may not boil down to money with [Quinn],» Rutherford said. «He said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here." - Rutherford
"We control him for a year and two-thirds because if we get to that trade deadline two years from now and it looks like he doesn't want to stay, then we would have to do something." Rutherford said.
Now that the Canucks have opened the door for teams to possibly pursue the captain and put their best offer on the table, many insiders, platforms and members of the media have drawn up trade proposals that range from realistic to completely outrageous.
One in particular was proposed by long-time New York Rangers reporter Larry Brooks, who caught the eye of many outlets due to its shockingly realistic if a trade were to occur between the Canucks and Devils in order for Quinn to play with his Brother Jack and Luke.
Obviously the Vancouver Canucks want to have their captain, MVP and reining Norris winning defenseman back for the remainder of his career, but, like Rutherford said, it may not come down to money for him, and if he is yearning to leave to play with his family, then a trade is the organizations only option.
