Now that the regular season is over and we're already into the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, it's interesting to take a look back and see which players led in certain advanced statistics throughout the year.
JFresh, who highlights advanced and underlying statistics in the National Hockey League on social media, shared a couple of posts that showed how well Quinn Hughes and Kiefer Sherwood played this season both on and off the puck.
The category, 'Most Stuff per 60 at 5v5', takes into account a number of different factors for a player:
On-Puck Stuff
- Shots and Passes
- Transition Plays
- O-Zone Puck Recoveries (forwards only)
- D-Zone Puck Touches

Off-Puck Stuff
- Hits
- Forecheck Pressures
- Takeaways
- Blocks
- Penalties Taken
- Penalties Drawn

For Kiefer Sherwood, he finished first among forwards in the National Hockey League with a total 'stuff' rating of 126.6, 18.3 more than Alex Laferriere of the Los Angeles Kings, who came in second place.
Sherwood has turned out to be a great signing for the Canucks Quinn Hughes played a big role in getting Patrik Allvin to bring him to the club after seeing what he brought to the Nashville Predators during their first round series against Vancouver last spring.
"I was pretty vocal with Patrik (Allvin, the Canuck general manager) about the (Kiefer) Sherwood add. Just playing him in the playoffs against Nashville and seeing his competitiveness and what he brings, you need guys like that on a championship team." Hughes said back in September.

Meanwhile for Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, he came in first place among defensemen in the entire National Hockey League with a 93.6 rating (84.9 of which was on-puck stuff), 2.1 higher than Calgary Flames blueliner MacKenzie Weegar.
