Sportico, who takes a look at the business side of sports, including how much each team is worth, has released new numbers regarding franchise valuations among the five major professional sports leagues in North America - NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and MLS.
For National Hockey League teams, the majority are ranked outside of the top-half of Sportico's most recent list, including the Vancouver Canucks. However, among teams around the National Hockey League, the Canucks are inside the top-half, coming in at 13th (105th overall) with a valuation of $1.2 billion, which is nearly $1 billion more than what Francesco Aquilini paid for the team. Aquilini purchased a 50% stake in the Canucks in 2004 and two years later, bought the remaining 50%.
As has been the case for quite a while, the NFL's Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable team in all of North America at a whopping $10.32 billion USD. Meanwhile, in last place out of the 153 teams is CF Montreal of Major League Soccer who come in at $440 million USD.
