Some New York Rangers fans weren't too pleased with former Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller during the team's home opener at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

The National Hockey League's 2025-26 season kicked off on Tuesday night with three games, including the New York Rangers, who were beginning their Centennial campaign against goaltender Arturs Silovs and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The game didn't go in New York's favour, as the club lost their season opener by a score of 3-0, seeing all 25 shots they threw Arturs Silovs' way turned aside, and some of the Rangers' fan base weren't too happy with the play of their captain & former Vancouver Canucks J.T. Miller.

Some New York Rangers fans express frustration over J.T. Miller's performance on Tuesday

During last night's game against the Penguins, some New York Rangers fans took to social media to share their thoughts on J.T. Miller's game and it's safe to say they weren't too pleased with what they saw.
"Their play, however, is very uninspiring. This looks like another JT Miller led team I remember." @ChasinPucks said.

@lover_the312 added, "JT Miller you gone show up to work today or what?"

"Is JT Miller healthy? Because he looks awful." @dantelives13 said.

"Is JT Miller even skating around with a stick? Shoot the puck." @WhiteRabbit_Sea added.
According to Adam Kierszenblat of The Hockey News, at even strength while J.T. Miller was on the ice, the New York Rangers were outshot 12-5 and outscored 2-0 in last night's game.
"Not an ideal start for J.T. Miller as captain of the Rangers. As per Natural Stat Trick, in 15:25 of even strength ice time, the Rangers were outshot 12-5, outscored 2-0 while Miller finished with an xGF% of 34.01" Kierszenblat said.
Miller spoke with reporters after the game where he said he didn't feel great out there, which is what he was expecting after not playing a lot during the preseason.
"Not great. Like I need to be...it's kind of what I expected. Legs are heavy today. Haven't had a whole lot of reps but you know, it'll come with time. I'll be better the next game as well." Miller said.
Thankfully for the New York Rangers and their fan base, it was just Game 1 of 82 in their regular season schedule, so there's no need to panic at all this early on in the year.
The Rangers will be back in action tomorrow night as they head across the state to take on the Buffalo Sabres for their home & 2025-26 season opener.
