A National Hockey League insider has given an update on a potential Vancouver Canucks trade target as the club continues to search for help down the middle.

The Vancouver Canucks are continuing to evaluate their options this summer and reportedly aren't done adding to their roster with the club still in need of some more depth at the center ice position.
Throughout the summer, the Canucks have been linked to numerous centermen both on the trade and free agent markets including Christian Dvorak, Mikael Granlund, Mason McTavish and most recently, Jack Roslovic, with the club speaking with his representatives about a contract as of a few days ago.
One name that the that the Canucks have been linked to earlier in their offseason is Pavel Zacha of the Boston Bruins, but things have quieted down on the trade front regarding him and this week, an insider has given an update about the Czech centerman.

In an updated version of his summer Trade Watch list, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period continues to link Pavel Zacha to the Vancouver Canucks, along with the Utah Mammoth, adding that the Bruins explored the trade market for him during the season and are expected to do so again as we enter the final week of July.
"The Bruins explored the trade market on Zacha during the season and there is belief out there that Boston is looking, again, at moving him. His 10-team no-trade list turned into an eight-team list July 1, so he does have some say in where he ends up, if dealt. He has two years remaining on his contract.

Teams Reportedly Linked: Vancouver, Utah"

The cost to acquire Pavel Zacha might be a bit high, especially given the fact there are a lot of teams that are still looking for forward help this summer, which could lead Boston to drive up the price and bring on a potential bidding war.
Vancouver has a deep enough prospect pool where they could get a deal done with the Bruins without giving up one of their premier guys (Lekkerimaki, Willander & Cootes), while throwing in a second round pick as well, something suggested by Stephan Roget of Canucks Army back in May.
"But that's not to say that they can't find a righter price for Zacha. The Bruins have been accumulating draft picks and players in the 20-25 age range. Maybe it's as simple as a second round pick, a B-level prospect or two (think Sawyer Mynio or Kirill Kudryavtsev), and the extra cap space to pursue a true 1C that comes with dumping Zacha's contract." Roget said.

Zacha, 28, saw a slight dip in production last season after registering back-to-back years of 20+ goals, but was still quite reliable while serving as Boston's number one center for the majority of the 2024-25 campaign.
In 82 games with the Bruins last season, the Brno, Czechia native put up 47 points (14 goals, 33 assists), 21 penalty minutes and was a minus-eight.
