An Original Six franchise is reportedly among several teams interested in Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood, who's set to become a UFA next summer.
Sherwood has had a solid start to the 2025-26 season as he leads the Vancouver Canucks in goals with 12 and is just one hit away for 100 on the year, a mark that he should have no issue reaching on Friday afternoon against the Anaheim Ducks.
With how Kiefer Sherwood was played this season, there's going to be a ton of interest in him leading up to the trade deadline on Friday, March 6th and it appears that at least on Original Six franchise is keeping their eye on the Columbus, Ohio native.
Original Six franchise reportedly interested in Vancouver Canucks' Kiefer Sherwood
During Thursday's edition of Donnie & Dhali, NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal said that he wouldn't be surprised if the Boston Bruins were among teams to show interest in Kiefer Sherwood in the coming weeks and months.
"A lot of teams are interested in Sherwood and Garland.
He wouldn't be surprised if Bruins are interested in Sherwood." Dhaliwal said.
Given how many teams are expected to be in the mix for Sherwood leading up to the deadline, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman believes that the Vancouver Canucks could get a trade done pretty quickly, assuming they get an offer that they're comfortable accepting and to add onto what Rick Dhaliwal said, Boston certainly has the assets necessary to get a deal completed.
"I've had people say to me today that they think that if Vancouver gets what they want for him...they could do it quick." Friedman said earlier this week.
Taking a look at Boston's prospect pool, aside from 2025 first rounder James Hagens, the Vancouver Canucks should be asking for any of their top guys in return for Sherwood, potentially even someone like Swedish winger Fabian Lysell, who's had a tough time trying to crack the Bruins' roster and at 22-years-old, could be in need of a fresh start.
Lysell is in his fourth season with the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins and is tied for second in points with 14 (eight goals, six assists) in 14 games, with the Gothenburg, Sweden native only making $863,334 this year before becoming an RFA at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
If Patrik Allvin is able to get a deal done with Boston surrounding Fabian Lysell and perhaps a third round pick or perhaps a conditional second round pick depending on if Kiefer Sherwood re-signs with the Bruins, it could be a big win for the Vancouver Canucks front office.
