Patrik Allvin confirms it for Nikita Zadorov: He's leaving the Canucks
After the Canucks moved Ilya Mikheyev and his hefty cap hit, Patrik Allvin started spending money on his free agents re-singing Dakota Joshua, Teddy Blueger and Tyler Myers.
The update everyone had been patiently waiting for regarding Nikita Zadorov's future has finally been given. Patrik Allvin confirmed during a media appearance at the NHL draft that the big defenceman had decided to continue his career elsewhere and would be headed to the free agency market on Monday, July 1st:
Patrik Allvin on Nikita Zadorov: We did our best, but Nikita has decided to go elsewhere.
There was lots of confidence in Patrik Alvin's ability to get the deal done given that Zadorov had made it clear he loved Vancouver. However, it appears the two parties couldn't reach an agreement that pleased both sides.
The Big Z was an in season acquisition for the Canucks who quickly developed into a fan favourite. Zadorov performed miles beyond expectations during the playoffs which led us to today, the point where the Canucks are choosing to part ways with him due to his elevated price tag.
