A former Vancouver Canucks forward was placed on the National Hockey League's waiver wire on Saturday, less than 24 hours after he was traded to his new club.

Teams around the National Hockey League are going to be quite busy over the next couple of days as they continue preparations for the start of the 2025-26 season, with rosters needing to be submitted by 2 p.m. PT tomorrow.
One team that has been pretty active in recent days is the Ottawa Senators, who landed some depth on the blue line in a trade with the New Jersey Devils, with in a trade with the New Jersey Devils, with former Vancouver Canucks forward Zack MacEwen going the other way.
"The New Jersey Devils announced today that the team has acquired forward Zack MacEwen in a trade with the Ottawa Senators in exchange for forward Kurtis MacDermid. The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald." The Devils said.

MacEwen's stint with the New Jersey Devils, or at least with them at the NHL level, didn't last too long, less than 24 hours to be exact, following an announcement on Saturday.
In a post on social media, James Mirtle of The Athletic shared that forward Zack MacEwen was among 17 players placed on the National Hockey League's waiver wire.
Other notables on Saturday's waiver wire include Ryan Graves - who has four years remaining on his deal with a cap hit of $4.5 million US, former first rounders Colin White (San Jose), Samuel Poulin (Pittsburgh), Tobias Bjornfot (Florida) and Alexander Alexeyev (Pittsburgh).
"Today on NHL waivers. Big one will be tomorrow." Mirtle said yesterday.
MacEwen, 29, has one year remaining on a three-year deal he signed with Ottawa back in the summer of 2023, which comes with a league minimum salary of $775,000.
The Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island native spent four seasons in the Vancouver Canucks organization, appearing in 55 games with the big club before being claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
In 237 NHL games with Vancouver, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Ottawa, MacEwen has 34 points (17 goals, 17 assists), along with 323 penalty minutes, 110 of which came in a single season with the Flyers.
As MacEwen awaits his fate on the waiver wire, it wouldn't a surprise if team that needed some grit & toughness on their fourth line were to place a claim on him before 11 a.m. PT.
