It was a pretty big shock to many of the the Vancouver Canucks fans when head coach Rick Tocchet decided that he was going to part ways with the team in order to explore his options in the NHL.
"As expected, hearing very good interest in Rick Tocchet. Interviews are going to pick up this week around the NHL, with the first round of the playoffs over. Keep an eye on Colorado. Jared Bednar, what happens if they let him go, they haven't had a lot of success coming." - Dhaliwal
Considering Tocchet is the hottest head coaching commodity on the market this offseason, it would make a lot of sense, but the Colorado Avalanche have made it clear that the rumors of him being their prime target if Jared Bednar is let go has been officially dismissed by the organization.
Avalanche GM Chris MacFarland quickly shut down the rumors, as NHL insider Elliotte Friedman cites the organization, which said it has «100 percent confidence in Jared Bednar as our head coach.»
While they would absolutely take a look at Tocchet for a job, the announcement clearly states there is no job available for it to come to fruition.
