The top 2 players on free agency receiving massive offers: Off the Canucks list?
Sam Reinhart and Jake Guentzel would both be near perfect adds for the Vancouver Canucks in free agency, but according to the latest rumours, they may have no choice but to look elsewhere.
On Friday's edition of 32 Thoughts the Podcast, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman says the belief around the league is that Sam Reinhart is simply not going to give anyone the option to sign him.
If not announced, that's happening in Florida... everybody thinks the Reinhart thing is done, I assume around nine [million] or nine and a half.
The Cup champs look to be ready to lock down their leading goal scorer long term, and Friedman added that another top target for the Canucks could be trending towards unavailable.
The insider says a number of teams believe the Hurricanes and Guentzel will be getting a deal done, and the Canucks may be of that belief.
One of the theories about Vancouver's decisions the other day, in terms of resigning a lot of their own players, is that maybe there'd been some intel out there that the Guentzel situation was trending in that direction.
It's not good news for the Canucks, as the two top free agent targets seemingly won't be on the table.
The team may be forced to look at a familiar face like Tyler Toffoli, or to spend premium assets on the trade market.
