Top Insider Tips Off Which Canucks Prospect Is Likely to Be Dealt This Offseason
An insider has shared which Vancouver Canucks prospect he thinks is more likely to be traded this summer as the team searches for someone who can make an impact on their NHL roster next season.
Heading into the offseason, the Vancouver Canucks have a few areas of their roster they need to address including
the second line center position and in order to land someone of significance, Patrik Allvin may have to part with one of Jonathan Lekkerimaki or Tom Willander and if that's the case, which one is more likely to be move?
Insider shares which prospect the Vancouver Canucks could be more willing to move
During an appearance on Canucks Central with Dan Riccio and Satiar Shah, Sportsnet's Sam Cosentino, who is essentially the network's prospect guru, gave his thoughts on who the Vancouver Canucks might be more willing to move in a trade this summer to acquire immediate help for their NHL roster.
Cosentino says that he would be willing to part with Jonathan Lekkerimaki because it's a lot harder to find defenseman than it is goal scoring and he doesn't believe that it would be wise for Patrik Allvin to move Tom Willander.
"Lekkerimaki." Cosentino said. "I just think defenseman are a little bit harder and harder to find. Some will say that the goal scoring element that Lekkerimaki possesses and what he was projected to do is going to be the more tangible element and the more valuable element. I don't see it that way. I think Willander is the guy I would not move off of."
Both Jonathan Lekkerimaki and Tom Willander have a ton of value on the National Hockey League's trade market and when potentially adding in Vancouver's 2025 first round pick (15th overall) to a package that involves one of those prospects, Patrik Allvin might be able to bring back a big name to the Canucks, someone who can slot into that second line center role and also see time on the power play.
Ideally, Patrik Allvin and the Canucks' management group would love to keep both Jonathan Lekkerimaki and Tom Willander, as they're both big parts of the team's future, but if they want to be a contending team and win right now, they need a legit second line centerman and potentially a top-six winger too and will likely have to trade one of their top prospects this summer.
