Two new clubs have entered the race to acquire Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes as trade talks begin to ramp up around the National Hockey League.

With the holiday roster freeze set to go into effect in a little over a week, trade talks around the National Hockey League are starting to heat up and for the Vancouver Canucks, they're hoping to get some deals done after making their pending unrestricted free agents available on the market in late November.
"According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that - in an effort to get younger - they are willing to listen to offers on 'veteran players.'" Friedman said.

Aside from their pending free agents, one name that is beginning to draw a ton of interest on the trade market is captain Quinn Hughes, with the New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings among those looking to land the the 26-year-old blueliner.
"Once Vancouver announced they were open for business, sent that email around to the league, I do believe there was a conversation, at least one, between the New Jersey Devils and Canucks about Quinn Hughes and I stress, I do not believe there is anything imminent, I don't even know that they're anywhere far along. But I do believe that conversation was had about where things stand and where they might be going." Friedman said.

Two new clubs enter the mix for Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes

In a recent article for The Fourth Period, National Hockey League insider David Pagnotta reported that the Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals have entered the mix for Quinn Hughes as interest continues to grow in the former Norris Trophy winner.
"We know the usual suspects. We'll continue to hear more teams, I'm sure, as this progressed, but the latest two that I have are the Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals." Pagnotta said.

He added, "I keep being told that Quinn Hughes and his agent hold all the cards in this at the end of the day, which depending on who you talk to, some believe that's the case, others say it's the Canucks because they have full control."

At this point, unless something changes in terms of offers and where Quinn Hughes wants to go, it feels like the Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils are probably the frontrunners for the Canucks captain as both clubs have the assets needed to get a deal done with Patrik Allvin.
There's no rush here however, as the Canucks could wait right up until deadline day on March 6th or in the offseason to get a trade done if they're not liking the offers they're receiving in the weeks and months ahead.
