Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers praised his team's management for the decision to trade for power forward Evander Kane earlier in the offseason.
At the end of June, with the Canucks looking to inject a bit more size and scoring ability to their top-six, Patrik Allvin went out onto the trade market and acquired Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers.
Kane, who is fresh off back-to-back trips to the Stanley Cup Final with Edmonton, is very much looking forward to suiting up for his hometown team and the team he grew up cheering for and recently shared some positive words about his new teammate, Elias Pettersson, who he could potentially play with to start the season.
"He's a guy who obviously skates really well. He's able to handle the puck through the neutral zone. He has great speed." Kane said.
He added, "I've played with a couple of guys like that in my career and I think It's imperative to help them create space through the neutral zone off the rush and, at the same time, let their attributes make yours even better. Getting open, finding the right spot to be to get the puck, reading off of them."

Vancouver Canucks' Tyler Myers praises management's decision to acquire Evander Kane
Evander Kane is one of those players that gets under your skin easily and if he's not on your team, you absolutely hate to play against him and the Vancouver Canucks have gotten a first-hand look at that over the last four seasons, including in the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Several members of the Vancouver Canucks who have spoken with reporters in the last weeks expressed their relief that they don't have to play against Evander Kane this season, with veteran defenseman Tyler Myers - who has played with the former Oiler on the international stage - praising the team's decision to acquire him.
Myers believes that Kane will be able to help the Vancouver Canucks in a big way this year and brings certain elements to the lineup that the club was lacking a bit of last season.
"I think Kaner's going to help us a lot. He brings a lot to a group. Big, power forward. The times I had with him when we were younger, playing against him wasn't that fun. Playing with him at things like world juniors and worlds, I know what he can bring. I think he's exactly some of the things we were lacking a little bit of. I think he's going to be great for us." Myers said.
Kane, 34, has just one year left on his contract and is going to be extra motivated this season given that he's playing in his hometown and will be looking to prove to the Vancouver Canucks & other NHL clubs that he's worthy of a big contract on Canada Day next summer.
