A trade proposal suggested this week would see the Vancouver Canucks & General Manager Patrik Allvin acquire a former first round pick from the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly 'open for business' as we approach the start of the 2025-26 season and with Nils Hoglander set to miss an extended period of time, it looks like they have their eyes on a middle-six forward & former first round pick in Chicago.
Earlier this week, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed that the Vancouver Canucks are one of three teams in the mix for Chicago Blackhawks forward Lukas Reichel, who the club is looking to give a fresh start elsewhere.
"The Chicago Blackhawks have been actively exploring the trade market in an attempt to move forward Lukas Reichel.

Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson has been engaged in talks with multiple teams about Reichel , who is open to a change of scenery as his opportunities in Chicago have seemed to be dwindling." Pagnotta said.

He added, "The Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks are among the teams believed to have interest in Reichel, who was drafted 17th overall by Chicago in the 2020 NHL Draft."

Trade proposal sees Vancouver Canucks land Lukas Reichel from Chicago Blackhawks

The cost to acquire Lukas Reichel may be as low as a mid-round pick, according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli.
Michael DeRosa of Heavy.com recently suggested a trade proposal that would see the Vancouver Canucks acquire the Nuremberg, Germany native in exchange for a third round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
"Because of this, Heavy Sports has a trade proposal that has the Blackhawks moving Reichel to the Canucks in an interesting move.

Canucks Get: - Lukas Reichel
Blackhawks Get: - 2027 Third-Round Pick

With this move, the Canucks would be taking a chance on a former first-round pick in Reichel. The Blackhawks, on the other hand, would get a third-round pick for a player who has not worked well in their system." DeRosa said.

Reichel, 23, hasn't necessarily lived up to the hype that comes with being a first round pick, with his career-high in points, so far, being just 22 - which he registered last year.
In 169 games at the NHL level, Reichel sits at 54 points (20 goals, 34 assists) and hopefully, if the Vancouver Canucks were to acquire him, Head Coach Adam Foote can unlock his true potential after showing signs that he can be a dependable second line player earlier in his professional hockey career.
