The Vancouver Canucks have officially signed their first player of the offseason as Patrik Allvin landed a highly coveted free agent out of Europe.

Last week, Vancouver Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford promised to fans that the team would be aggressive this offseason to upgrade their roster, whether that comes via the free agent market on July 1st or through a trade.
Many were wondering when the Vancouver Canucks would make their first move and a little over a month after their regular season concluded, Patrik Allvin has landed a 22-year-old undrafted European free agent.

In a post on social media on Thursday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they've agreed to terms on a two-year, entry-level contract with undrafted free agent Anri Ravinskis. Financial details of the contract were not released.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with forward Anri Ravinskis on a two-year, entry-level contract starting in 2025.26." the Canucks said on X.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin commented on the signing, saying that they've been keeping a close eye on Anri Ravinskis throughout the 2024-25 season in Finland and that they're looking forward to helping him get used to playing the North American style of game.
"Anri is a player our group has been watching closely this year in Finland and more recently at the World Hockey Championships in Sweden. Finding European free agents like Anri is a good way for our organization to improve its depth. We like his size and body type and look forward to helping him refine his skills and get used to the North American pro game." Allvin said.

Ravinskis, 22, spent two seasons in North America with the QMJHL's Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in 2021-22 and 2022-23 before returning to Europe, where he's been for the last couple of years.
During the 2024-25 campaign, Ravinskis split time between HPK in Finland's top division, Liiga, along with Kettera Imatra in the second tier, Mestis, finishing the year as a point-per-game player.
In 27 Liiga games with HPK, the Riga, Latvia native registered 17 points (eight goals, nine assists), while adding 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 23 games for Kettera Imatra.
He also suited up for Latvia at the 2025 IIHF World Championship in Sweden, putting up two points (one goal, one assist), two penalty minutes and had an even-rating in seven games, as they missed out on the Playoff Round
Ravinskis, who becomes the third Latvian on the team, joining Teddy Blueger and Arturs Silovs, will bring some much needed depth to the Vancouver Canucks' roster and while there's a very good chance he could start the 2025-26 season in Abbotsford, he won't be there for too long.
