Vancouver Canucks' Quinn Hughes says that he believes in Elias Pettersson's ability to bounce back after a tough 2024-25 campaign filled with drama & inconsistency.

Elias Pettersson is looking ahead to the 2025-26 season after a difficult year in Vancouver which included a feud with now-former teammate J.T. Miller, a late-season injury that ended his season prematurely and he wasn't able to perform like his normal self, finishing with 15 goals and 45 points in 64 games.
Pettersson told reporters last month that he's out for revenge this season and the Canucks are excited to see what that'll entail, including captain Quinn Hughes.
"I haven't thought about it, but for myself it's revenge. I'm not happy with last season. I'm trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I'm trying my best, but also trying to get better." Pettersson said.

While at the NHL's North American Player Media Tour in Las Vegas, Nevada this week, Quinn Hughes spoke with reporters, mainly about rumors regarding him potentially leaving the club, but also about his thoughts heading into the new season.
Hughes was also asked about his teammate, Elias Pettersson, with the Canucks captain saying that he believes that all of the drama weighed on the Swedish forward last season, added that he think he will have a great year for the team.
"I don't care if he came five pounds lighter or five pounds heavier,» Hughes said. «He's a gifted player, and we're very similar guys. I think he grew up and was really undersized and had to rely on his brain. And I think he sees the game in a special way."

He added, "I'm not going to lie to you: All the nonsense last year weighed on him heavily from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint. No one wants to deal with that. Given that, you have to find a way to perform through that as well. But he's a really competitive person. I expect him to have a great year."

If the Vancouver Canucks are able to get Elias Pettersson back to his old form, at least in the point-per-game range, it'll set them up very nicely for the second half of the season as they push for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
