Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes responded to comments made by his brother, Jack, of the New Jersey Devils about the two potentially playing together one day.

For a good chunk of the offseason, rumors have been swirling about Quinn Hughes' future with the Vancouver Canucks organization and it all started back in April when Jim Rutherford admitted that there's a possibility it might not come down to money or term with their captain, who wants to play with his brothers at some point in his NHL career.
Playing alongside your brother(s) in the National Hockey League is something that the Hughes trio likely talked about a lot when they were younger, as any siblings would, but rumors about Quinn leaving Vancouver to join Luke and Jack in New Jersey have stole the headlines all summer, with the Canucks captain breaking his silence on the matter last week.
"One thing I'm really good at - or have gotten good at - is I'm very present. I can't even sign for another year, so there's nothing I can do. As far as the noise (about his future), I can handle the noise. That's why I'm the captain of the team, because I can handle these things and I can play at an elite level and it doesn't matter what's going on around me." Hughes said.

He added, "And as far as the noise around my teammates, I'm going to try to help everyone else, too, and be as good a leader as I can be. Noise doesn't bother me. It's a long year, and I'm just going to be day-to-day and focus on the short term. That's the truth, honestly."

Quinn Hughes responds to comments made by his brother, Jack, on Tuesday

On Tuesday, when meeting with reporters at the NHL's North American Player Media Tour in Las Vegas, Nevada, Jack Hughes was asked about Quinn Hughes' future and said that he would love to play with his brother in the NHL someday, whether it be in New Jersey or elsewhere.
"This is the headline question, you know?. Honestly, I'm not afraid to say it. Yeah, I would love for Quinn to -- eventually I'd love to play with him. And whether that's in New Jersey or at what time that takes, at some point I want to play with Quinn. But yeah, that's the question going around. They talk all day about it up in Vancouver, you know? But yeah I'd love to play with Quinn at some point." Jack Hughes said to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

As expected, Quinn Hughes was asked about Jack's comments during his interview with LeBrun on Wednesday morning and he played it down a bit, saying that it's his brother, what else is he supposed to say, that he doesn't want to play with him?
Hughes added that he's excited to be in Vancouver and be a Canuck and has a lot of work to do there to help the team return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, hopefully this season.
"I mean, he's my brother. What's he supposed to say, first of all? 'Like, I don't want to play with him, you know?' ... I mean, we have contracts and whatnot. He's on a different team. Would it be fun to play with those guys at some point? Of course. I think if you guys have brothers, you guys would say the same thing. But we do have contracts. I'm excited to be in Vancouver, and I feel like last year was a little bit of failure. So I feel like I got things to do there. And I know Jack loves, he loves Jersey, and he's got stuff to do also." Hughes said.

He added, "That's him being authentic."
It certainly feels like this story will drag on all season long, but hopefully it won't be too much of a distraction for Quinn Hughes and his Vancouver Canucks teammates.
If all goes well for the Canucks this season and they make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, perhaps win a round or two, maybe Quinn Hughes will consider signing an extension when he becomes eligible on Canada Day next year.
