The Vancouver Canucks have announced a roster move on Tuesday involving one of their top defensive prospects, with two days to go until they open the 2025-26 season.

Over the weekend, the Vancouver Canucks made the difficult decision to assign top defensive prospects Victor Mancini and Tom Willander to the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks to begin the season, a move that didn't sit well with the team's fans on social media.
After announcing their opening night roster on Monday, there was still some injury issues the Vancouver Canucks were dealing with on the blue line and it appears that one of those players won't be able to suit up on Thursday against the Calgary Flames, leading Patrik Allvin to bring someone back up from the AHL.

Vancouver Canucks call-up one of their top defensive prospects from the AHL

On Tuesday morning, Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali announced that at some point today, the Vancouver Canucks would be calling up defensive prospect Victor Mancini from the AHL.
"Sounds like D Victor Mancini is getting called up by the #Canucks." Dhaliwal said on X.
The Vancouver Canucks & General Manager Patrik Allvin made the reports official a short while later, calling up the Hancock, Michigan native in time for the start of the NHL's 2025-26 season, as many fans wondered who will be out of the lineup on Thursday, likely due to injury.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Victor Mancini has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL)." the Canucks said.
Mancini, 23, was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks back in January as part of the return for J.T. Miller and he went on to appear in 16 games with the big club last season, registering three points (one goal, two assists), eight penalty minutes and was a minus-six.
According to Rick Dhaliwal, defenseman Derek Forbort is feeling better and should be practicing with the team on Tuesday, while Pierre-Olivier Joseph is the most likely injured blueliner on the roster, after missing Friday's preseason finale against the Edmonton Oilers.
"Mancini has been called up.

Sounds like Derek Forbort is fine to practise, the injured defenseman most likely is P-O Joseph." Dhaliwal said.
We'll have to wait and see what transpires on the injury front in the days ahead, with possibly some news coming later today as GM Patrik Allvin is set to meet with reporters for his season opening media availability.
