Vancouver Canucks' Conor Garland Could Reportedly Landing Big Opportunity Later This Summer

Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland could reportedly land a big opportunity later this summer, an NHL insider has revealed during a podcast appearance this week.
While the Vancouver Canucks didn't have the season they were hoping for, missing out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs, a handful of players had the chance to represent their nation at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, including Conor Garland.
For Conor Garland, it was his third time playing at the IIHF World Championship, all of which have come in the last five years and this time around, he helped the United States win their first gold medal in 92 years, and was named Player of the Game on a couple occasions.
His success with the United States at the IIHF World Championship this spring could turn into a bigger opportunity on the international stage for the Scituate, Massachusetts native.
Insider says Conor Garland in line for massive international opportunity
Aside from his three appearances at the IIHF World Championship, Conor Garland hasn't represented the United States at any other level, not even the IIHF World Juniors, which was a bit of a shock at the time.
However, after registering ten points in ten games in May in Sweden & Denmark, it looks like Conor Garland might be in the mix to represent his nation at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Last week, NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal was a guest on The People's Show on Sportsnet 650 radio where he shared that Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland may receive an invitation to USA Hockey's Olympic Training Camp.
The United States is set to host their 2026 Olympic Orientation Camp in Plymouth, Michigan late next month and while they say there won't be any on-ice sessions, it's still going to be very interesting to see who ends up getting invited.
"USA Hockey will conduct an Olympic orientation camp for candidates of its men's Olympic team in late August in Plymouth, Michigan. There will be no formal on-ice activity during the camp. Further details will be announced later this summer." they said.
While it's not known just yet who will all be invited to the Plymouth next month by USA Hockey, but if they end up taking a large group, such as 30-40 players, perhaps we could see Thatcher Demko and Brock Boeser in attendance.
There is one Vancouver Canucks player that was already named to the US' roster for the Olympics and that was Quinn Hughes, as he is among their first six, joining with Jack Eichel, Auston Matthews, Brady Tkachuk, Matthew Tkachuk and Charlie McAvoy.
Team USA will open up their 2026 Olympic Men's Hockey schedule on February 12th at 12:10 pm PT against Latvia.
