The Vancouver Canucks continue to be linked to a former first round pick this summer as Patrik Allvin is hoping to add another centerman to the fold before training camp begins.

With a little over six weeks to go until the Vancouver Canucks open up training camp in Penticton, the team is still on the look out for some more center depth, something General Manager Patrik Allvin has been trying to add for close to two months now.
While there's a chance the Vancouver Canucks may enter the season with how things stand at the moment, as insider Jeff Marek mentioned last week, but other reports suggest the club isn't done adding to their roster.
Since July 1st, Patrik Allvin's pursuit of help down the middle has been a bit more aggressive, but so far, he hasn't been able to land a second line centerman or any depth at the position just yet, but there is one name to keep an eye on in the weeks ahead, someone that the club has been linked to earlier this summer.

Former first round pick continues to be linked to the Vancouver Canucks this summer

Earlier this summer, as the search for a second line centerman began, the Vancouver Canucks were linked to Pavel Zacha of the Boston Bruins, a former sixth-overall pick who has two years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $4.75 million US.
"But that's not to say that they can't find a righter price for Zacha. The Bruins have been accumulating draft picks and players in the 20-25 age range. Maybe it's as simple as a second round pick, a B-level prospect or two (think Sawyer Mynio or Kirill Kudryavtsev), and the extra cap space to pursue a true 1C that comes with dumping Zacha's contract." Stephan Roget said in May.

As the summer drags on, the Vancouver Canucks continue continue to be linked to Pavel Zacha by The Fourth Period and are joined by the Utah Mammoth in their pursuit of the 28-year-old from Brno, Czechia.
"The Canucks need a top-6 center and Zacha has proven he can be that player. If need be, he can also shift over to the wing and be just as effective even though his faceoff percentage has been over 53% for the last two seasons. Zacha could reunite with Jake DeBrusk on the second line and pushing Filip Chytil down to the third line would make the team look a lot better and deeper." Rob Couch of NHLTradeRumors.me said recently.

Zacha has taken his game to a new level since joining the Boston Bruins in the summer of 2022, finishing this past year with 47 points (14 goals, 33 assists) in 82 games, which is a slight dip after back-to-back seasons of 20+ goals.
If the Canucks want to bring in Pavel Zacha before season begins, they're going to need to open up a bit more cap space, whether that be in the same trade with Boston or another team, as according to PuckPedia, Vancouver only has $3.27 million available.
