The injury filled season for the Vancouver Canucks continues to be a problem, as the team announced that Quinn Hughes will not dress tonight against the New York Rangers, the second straight game he will be out with a lower-body injury.

With a slow start to the 2025-26 NHL season, sitting with a 5-5 record, the Vancouver Canucks need to start stringing together multiple wins in a row, but the teams most recent injury update will make that feat a whole lot harder.

Vancouver Canucks will be without captain Quinn Hughes for the second straight game

Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote broke the news that captain and team MVP Quinn Hughes will miss his second straight game with a lower-body injury.
Head coach Adam Foote says the star defenceman remains «day to day» with a lower-body injury and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

There was no specific play that indicated Hughes was injured during the contest against Montreal, but after picking up a pair of assists, a plus-one rating in the 4-3 loss, he played the most ice time on the Canucks, logging 26:25 minutes on his 26 shifts.
Its an unfortunate reality, especially for the fact the former teammate and alternate captain J.T. Miller is making his highly anticipated return to Rogers arena for the first time this season.
"Obviously we're not happy with how it went, but that was in the past and we can only learn from it." Elias Pettersson said.

"Millsy's no longer a teammate, so you know, to me he's just a good friend." Conor Garland said. "We're off of last year, we've already moved on. He's in New York, we're in Vancouver. It'll be nice to see him when we play him, but besides that, we're on about our team."

Hughes' replacement, Victor Mancini left last Sunday's contest and was placed on the IR which has made way for top prospect Tom Willander to make his long awaited NHL debut.
"Victor Mancini is still being evaluated, and the club doesn't have a firm timeline yet." Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 said on Sunday.

Now 10 games in, the Canucks have faced some serious setbacks, and one can only hope that Hughes, Mancini, Forbort and others can make their way back sooner rather than later so they can turn the season around.
Hughes is among a host of Canucks players out with early season injuries, including defencemen Derek Forbort and Victor Mancini, and forwards Nils Hoglander, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, Teddy Blueger and Filip Chytil.
