Vancouver Canucks Drop Major Roster Update Ahead of Their Highly Anticipated Preseason Game Vs. Calgary Flames
The Vancouver Canucks have made a big announcement on who will be suiting up for Wednesday night's preseason game in Abbotsford against the Calgary Flames.
Training camp for the Vancouver Canucks officially got underway on Thursday morning, as the team's 59-man roster were split into three groups for today's on-ice sessions in Penticton.
As the club prepares for Sunday evening's preseason opener in Seattle against the Kraken, fans are eagerly awaiting for their first "home" exhibition contest this fall, which will take place on Wednesday in Abbotsford and it appears that many familiar faces will be playing that night.
Vancouver Canucks make big announcement about lineup for Wednesday's game in Abbotsford
In a social media post yesterday with the team promoting next Wednesday's game and trying to get fans to purchase tickets, the Vancouver Canucks announced some of the names that'll be suiting up for them.
According to the post, Vancouver's lineup against the Calgary Flames will feature goaltender Thatcher Demko, defensemen Marcus Pettersson & Tyler Myers, along with forwards Conor Garland, Filip Chytil and Nils Hoglander.
"#Canucks say that Demko, Garland, Myers, Höglander, M. Pettersson, and Chytil will all be in the lineup when they play in Abbotsford next week." Rob Williams of Daily Hive said.
Beyond that, it's still unclear who else will be in the lineup next week, with Sunday's game against Seattle presumably involving some of the team's other big names, potentially even Evander Kane, Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson, Jake DeBrusk, Quinn Hughes, Filip Hronek, Kevin Lankinen, among others.
After Wednesday's game in Abbotsford, the Canucks will return to Vancouver for their actual home preseason opener where they host the Seattle Kraken at Rogers Arena, before heading off on a two-game road trip to Edmonton and Calgary on September 28th and October 1st, respectively.
By the time they return to Vancouver for their final preseason game on Friday, October 3rd, the opening night roster will mostly be in place, meaning that you can expect to see all of the team's stars playing in that contest before any final cuts are made ahead of the NHL's roster submission deadline on Monday, October 6th at 2 p.m. PT.
