A former 30-goal scorer has been named as a potential replacement this summer for Vancouver Canucks pending unrestricted free agent forward Brock Boeser.
With the National Hockey League's free agent period set to open in just over a week, teams are beginning to make their final pitches to their own UFAs in an attempt to keep them around and for the Vancouver Canucks, there's no doubt they'd love Brock Boeser to remain with the club.
While Vancouver might be hoping Boeser will change his mind this week,
all signs point to him hitting the open market on July 1st and as of late May, NHL insider David Pagnotta said that the 28-year-old was a longshot to sign a new deal with the team.
"Boeser, 28, is a 'longshot' to re-sign with the Canucks, one team source confirmed to me this week. He is prepared to move on to the next chapter of his career and will attract significant interest this summer, especially given the limited market." Pagnotta said.

Vancouver Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford
promised to fans that the team will be aggressive this summer as they search for upgrades for their forward group, along with plugging holes in the top-six, notably a second line centerman and winger.
Over the next week leading up to July 1st, the Canucks will be linked to several more players as their search continues for forward help and in a recent article on Canucks Army, Tyson Cole shared some names that Allvin and Rutherford could target through trade.
Cole says that while it wasn't a season to write home about for Viktor Arvidsson, his underlying numbers were noticeable in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, including his skating speed.
He went on to share that Arvidsson would need to waive his no-movement clause to facilitate a trade this summer and with the Oilers having other business they need to get done, the 32-year-old could come cheap as a cap dump.
"Arvidsson would need to sign off on any trade as he has a full no-movement clause. However, with it clearly not working out in his first year in Edmonton, being scratched in the Stanley Cup Finals, and their cap trouble needing to re-sign
Evan Bouchard with just under $8 million after the reported eight-year
Trent Frederic extension, Arvidsson may be willing to waive his clause for an opportunity to play in a more prominent role. Plus, Arvidsson would likely be viewed as a cap dump and come at a low cost." Cole said.
Arvidsson, a native of Skelleftea, Sweden, appeared in 67 games this past season for the Edmonton Oilers, registering 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists), 24 penalty minutes and was a minus-three. He also added seven points in 15 Stanley Cup Playoff contests.
The Swedish forward has one year remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $4 million and is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, 2026.
