An insider is reporting that pending unrestricted free agent forward Brock Boeser is a longshot to re-sign with the Vancouver Canucks and will likely hit the open market on July 1st.

The National Hockey League's free agent market is set to open at 9 am PT on Canada Day and with just 31 days until that happens, time is running out for the Vancouver Canucks to sign Brock Boeser to a contract extension.
Vancouver could certainly circle back on Boeser on July 1st, but the 28-year-old admitted back in April that he's likely played his last game as a Canuck, as the two sides are at odds on term, with the UFA reportedly wanting a deal more than five-years in length.

Insider says Brock Boeser is a longshot to re-sign with Vancouver Canucks

During a season ticket holder event in mid-May, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin said they're still hoping to work out a deal with Brock Boeser to avoid him from leaving, but it looks like the odds of him returning next season are quite slim.
In an article on The Fourth Period, David Pagnotta says that a source informed him that Brock Boeser re-signing with the Vancouver Canucks is a longshot at this point and that he'll garner significant interest on the free agent market this summer.
"The focus in Vancouver seems to be centred around adding more offence up front and replacing Brock Boeser, who will become an unrestricted free agent this summer." Pagnotta said.

He added, "Boeser, 28, is a «longshot» to re-sign with the Canucks, one team source confirmed to me this week. He is prepared to move on to the next chapter of his career and will attract significant interest this summer, especially given the limited market."

Boeser, a native of Burnsville, Minnesota, has been a big piece of the Vancouver Canucks organization since being draft by the club 23rd overall back in 2015 and losing him will leave a big hole in their top-six forward group that won't be easy to fill.
In 554 career games as a Vancouver Canuck, Brock Boeser had 434 points (204 goals, 230 assists), 142 penalty minutes and is a minus-33.
Brock Boeser will have a number of teams chasing him on July 1st as he's one of the top free agents available and among those that could enter the mix for his services are the Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes, Los Angeles Kings and even the Toronto Maple Leafs, if they don't re-sign a star free agent of their own - Mitch Marner.
