Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has released a statement on Wednesday after the team announced Adam Foote as their next Head Coach.

Just over two weeks after Rick Tocchet left the Vancouver Canucks organization to pursue a new opportunity, which appears to be with the Philadelphia Flyers, Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford have found their "new" bench boss.
On Wednesday, the Vancouver Canucks announced Adam Foote as their next Head Coach after parts of three seasons on the bench as an assistant.

Patrik Allvin releases statement on Adam Foote becoming Head Coach

Following the announcement that Adam Foote was being named the 22nd Head Coach in Vancouver Canucks franchise history, General Manager Patrik Allvin released a statement where he praised the former Stanley Cup champion.
Allvin says that Foote has worked extremely hard since joining the organization in January 2023 and has gained the players respect and trust, adding that he knows more about the team than anyone else who they interviewed.
Further to that Allvin believes Foote will bring structure and accountability to the group, which will send a clear message about about how they want to go about their business both in-game and at practices.
"Adam is a strong leader, good teacher and person who knows what it takes to build a great culture and winning attitude. His past experiences on the ice have translated nicely into a coaching style that fits our organization's goals and vision. He has worked extremely hard the past few years, gaining our player's respect and trust for his strong communication and honest straight forward opinion. He knows this group better than anyone else we interviewed and has inside knowledge and understanding of what it will take to get us back to where we want to be. Adam brings structure, accountability, and a detailed oriented approach to his coaching, a process that will send a clear message to our group about the way we want to compete, practice, and play hockey. We are very happy to have him take over as the new Head Coach of the Vancouver Canucks." Allvin said.

Foote, 53, might not be the candidate that fans were hoping for, but he does know this team inside and out, which will help him immensely heading into training camp in September as the organization looks to put this year in the past and push towards a return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2026.
