Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin fully believes in his team's chances to compete for a playoff spot as they get set to begin a big bounce back year.

Today's the day, the Vancouver Canucks will officially open their 2025-26 schedule tonight against the Calgary Flames after a very long offseason that was filled with changes on and off the ice.
General Manager Patrik Allvin was among the busier executives around the National Hockey League this summer, with his biggest move being the acquisition of Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers and after a difficult 2024-25 campaign, the Swede is focus, and hopeful, that he has the right pieces in place so that the Canucks can be playing meaningful hockey later in the year.

Vancouver Canucks' Patrik Allvin speaks about 2025-26 season, team's chances to compete

Earlier this week, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin met with reporters for his season opening media availability where he touched on a number of topics, from his belief in the group he's put together, to injury issues the team is dealing with right now and even the intense roster battles during training camp.
Allvin said to the media that he is very confident in this team entering the 2025-26 season and that everyone in the organization is very excited about the group that'll take to the ice for the first time this season later tonight.
The Canucks GM went on to add that he believes they have the right mix of veterans and younger players heading into the 2025-26 campaign and that he liked what he saw from everyone in camp.
"I believe in the team we have here. We all know the parity of the league and the condensed schedule didn't help, but we're very excited about the group we have here, and more so, how they have come together, and how they bought into the coaches and how we want to play. They seem to have enjoyed coming to the rink, and there's been a lot of laughs, and coming together as a team has been important for Adam [Foote]. I give the players a lot of credit." Allvin said.

He added, "I think we have a good mix here with the older guys being here in the past and seeing some of the younger guys coming up from Abbotsford and Braeden Cootes coming in from junior hockey. It's been a very inspiring training camp leading up to this point. So, I think the team is ready and the staff is ready to get going here."

There's been a lot of talk this summer and heading into training camp from members of the Vancouver Canucks that they're determined to turn things around this year and now is their opportunity to prove that on the ice against a Calgary Flames team that played 24 hours ago.
After tonight's game, the Canucks will head out on the road for Saturday's contest against the Edmonton Oilers on Hockey Night in Canada, followed by a Thanksgiving matinee on Monday back at home against Pius Suter & the St. Louis Blues, both of which Patrik Allvin would certainly love to see them win.
