Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin gave a big update on the status of injured forward Filip Chytil, who was hit by Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson last Sunday.

Last Sunday, when the Vancouver Canucks took on the Washington Capitals, a scary scene took place late in the first period involving forward Filip Chytil.
Chytil was skating out of his own zone with the puck and after passing it off to his teammate, Evander Kane, Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson stepped up and laid a massive hit on the Canucks forward, which forced him to leave the game.
"Tom Wilson lays a heavy hit on Filip Chytil.

Chytil went to the dressing room, and after review, there was no penalty on the play."

Understandably, Chytil was placed on injured reserve (IR) on Monday morning, meaning he would be out for a minumum of seven days and while he certainly won't be suiting up tomorrow night against the Edmonton Oilers, it looks like he's starting to feel a bit better.
When meeting with the media yesterday, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin said that Filip Chytil has made progress in his recovery, but has to go through "protocol" - presumably concussion-related, before he's cleared to play again.
"Allvin suggests that Chytil has been making progress but still needs to go through the protocol and hasnt been cleared.
2-3 weeks for Lekkerimäki
Forbert had a setback and is week to week.
Allvin says a lack of practice time also a challenge to get these guys back." Farhan Lalji of TSN said on X.
Chytil, a native of Kromeriz, Czechia, has dealt with a number of concussions throughout his career in the NHL thus far, which has some analysts believing he should consider retiring from professional hockey.
""I'll be straightforward with it Rick and not duck it. I'll give a little background on why I take this position. To me, it's time to have the hard conversation with Filip Chytil that he may have to retire and he may need to think about another profession and that's a hard conversation to have." Button said.

He added, "And that's why, for me, I would be sitting down with Filip Chytil, representatives, his family and say 'You have to think about this' because the next one could be the one that's devastating."

The 26-year-old was having a solid start to the 2025-26 season prior to his injury, registering three goals, six penalty minutes and has an even-rating through six games.
