Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote has issued an encouraging injury update on forward Nils Hoglander, who has yet to play a game during the 2025-26 season.

It's been an injury-filled season for the Vancouver Canucks so far with several key names on the sidelines right now including goaltender Thatcher Demko, along with forwards Nils Hoglander, Filip Chytil and Teddy Blueger.
After an impressive training camp and start to the preseason, Nils Hoglander Nils Hoglander suffered an injury which required surgery and was subsequently placed on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) and given an eight-to-ten week timeline to return to game action.
As fans of the Vancouver Canucks continue to wait for Nils Hoglander's return, a big update was given this week by Head Coach Adam Foote regarding when the Swedish forward will be back on the ice.

When speaking with reporters ahead of Wednesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks, Head Coach Adam Foote said that both Nils Hoglander and Thatcher Demko are expected to meet the team in Los Angeles this weekend to begin practicing.
Foote also gave an update on goaltender Kevin Lankinen, who is away from the Vancouver Canucks for personal reasons, saying that there's a chance he may rejoin the team at some point on the road trip.
"Adam Foote said there is a chance goalie Kevin Lankinen will rejoin Canucks from personal leave on this road trip. Thatcher Demko and Nils Hoglander expected in LA on Saturday to begin practising. Nikita Tolopilo will be 4th goalie to start for VAN tonight in Anaheim." Iain MacIntyre said on X.
Hoglander, 24, is hoping for a bounce back year after seeing a 16-goal decline between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons and as he begins the first of a three-year contract, he's confident in where his game is at.
"My goal now is to finish where I left off last year, so I feel pretty confident with that, and that's why I wanted to stay on the ice all summer too. I was skating way more this offseason." Nils Hoglander said at the end of September.

If Nils Hoglander remains on that initial eight-to-ten week timeline, it puts him on track for a return to game action before the National Hockey League's holiday break, but we'll have to wait and see how he feels in practice starting Saturday.
