Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander vows to be better during the 2025-26 campaign after seeing a sharp decline in the goal scoring department last season.

A lot of the talk this has been about Swedish forward Elias Pettersson needing to bounce back next season after recording just 45 points in 64 games last year, but he certainly wasn't the only one who struggled.
Fresh off a career-high of 24 goals during the 2023-24 campaign, the Vancouver Canucks rewarded forward Nils Hoglander by locking him up to a three-year, $9 million deal which begins this season.
Instead of building on the success he had the season prior, Hoglander's production dropped off in a big way, going from 24 goals to just eight during 2024-25, but after a strong summer filled with training on and off the ice, the 24-year-old is determined to prove to everyone last year was a fluke.

In a recent interview with Trevor Beggs of Daily Hive, Nils Hoglander spoke about last season's struggles and how he plans to bounce back starting this fall.
Hoglander said despite dropping off in the goal scoring department, he felt confident later on in the season and is hoping that'll stick with him as the 2025-26 campaign gets underway in two weeks.
"My goal now is to finish where I left off last year, so I feel pretty confident with that, and that's why I wanted to stay on the ice all summer too. I was skating way more this offseason." Hoglander said.

The Bocktrask, Sweden native also told Beggs that he believes he's more prepared now to play with the team's star forwards, whether it be Elias Pettersson or Brock Boeser, than he's ever been in the past.
"If you play with those guys, you want them to have the puck, and I go to the net. It's about sharing the puck. I still have to be that pretty player, but I also have to win pucks down low and go to the net. So I've just gotta learn, even if I play with those guys, I'm still gonna do that and not be too fancy." Hoglander said according to Beggs.

As Hoglander gets set to begin the first year of his three-year deal, he's hoping that he can get back to being an effective player night in, night out for the Vancouver Canucks and he's gotten off to a good start in training camp, as he opened the scoring on the power play during Wednesday's game against Calgary.
