Vancouver Canucks Lose Out on Acquiring 6'5 Power Forward After Deciding to Sign Elsewhere

The Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin will have to go back to the drawing board and keep looking for depth forwards as one of their top targets has decided to sign a professional tryout (PTO) with the Minnesota Wild.
Other than Kiefer Sherwood backing the entire Canucks lineup as a bonified power forward, they are still short some physical presence after they made the controversial decision to ship off fan favorite Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
"After trading away Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Canucks could use another forward with size. Thus, one UFA who could make sense for the Canucks to take a chance on with a PTO is Brett Leason." DeRosa said.
As a result, many reports have suggested names that the Canucks could sign for cheap, or even on a PTO to add to their depth, and Allvin was urged to hand a lifeline to 26-year-old winger Brett Leason.

Even though the Canucks are pretty set on not going for any PTO candidates this season, the team did show some interest in Leason, but they now have missed out on the chance, which could be the very reason why their are turned off going down that route.
The 6'5 power forward signed a tryout with the Minnesota Wild, shutting down all chances for Vancouver to test his services.
Hearing the #mnwild are bringing in former Caps and Ducks right wing Brett Leason on a PTO. Right-shot who can kill penalties. Will bring more competition in camp for a bottom-six role.

At the end of the day, it really is not a major loss for the Canucks as they really are looking for an upgrade at second-line center, and no amount of PTO signings are going to fill that hole.
As all previous reports have indicated, GM Patrik Allvin will have to find a solution on the trade market.
