The Vancouver Canucks have signed forward Conor Garland to a long-term contract extension today as the 29-year-old enters the final year of his deal in the fall.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has been one of the busier exuctives among Western Conference teams over the last week after trading for Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers and signing goaltender Thatcher Demko to a multi-year contract extension.
After some uncertainty regarding his own future with the Vancouver Canucks, it looks like forward Conor Garland will be sticking around with the club beyond next season and on a long-term deal too.

Vancouver Canucks sign forward Conor Garland to long-term contract extension

On Tuesday morning, the Vancouver Canucks revealed that they've signed Conor Garland to a six-year contract extension, which begins in the 2026-27 season, worth $36 million US ($6 million AAV).
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with forward Conor Garland on a six-year contract with a $6 million AAV."
The new contract for Conor Garland came together quite quickly, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reporting just 11 days ago that the Vancouver Canucks were going to explore the possibility of an extension for the 29-year-old forward.
Shortly after the Vancouver Canucks made the news official, General Manager Patrik Allvin shared a statement where he highlighted what Conor Garland brings to the group and that he's emerging as a leader for the team.
"Conor is a core member of our hockey team and a player who has taken on a bigger role with the club the past couple seasons. His commitment to us by signing this deal shows how confident he is in our organization's vision and direction. He competes hard every day, drives play on the ice, is relentless on the forecheck and is really tough to play against. Gars is an emerging leader in the group and works extremely hard to keep himself and the players around him accountable." Allvin said.

Garland, a native of Scituate, Massachusetts, joined the Vancouver Canucks via trade with the Arizona Coyotes in the summer of 2021 and he's gone on to register 195 points (75 goals, 120 assists), 154 penalty minutes and is a plus-19 in 321 games.
More to come.
