Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes shared recently how he's feeling about the outside noise and rumors regarding his future with the organization.
For the last seven months, rumors have been swirling about Quinn Hughes' future with the Vancouver Canucks organization as the team's captain is eligible to sign a contract extension as of Canada Day next summer.
Whether or not Hughes will end up putting pen-to-paper on an extension next summer remains to be seen, but rumors about his future, including the possibility of him being traded before he hits unrestricted free agency, are going to continue for many, many months to come.
"One thing I'm really good at - or have gotten good at - is I'm very present. I can't even sign for another year, so there's nothing I can do. As far as the noise (about his future), I can handle the noise. That's why I'm the captain of the team, because I can handle these things and I can play at an elite level and it doesn't matter what's going on around me." Hughes said back in September.

The Canucks captain is having a solid season thus far, registering 20 points (one goal, 19 assists) in 16 games, ten of which have come in the last three games, and despite his injury issues so far this year and the team's struggles, Hughes is remaining positive.
When it comes to his future in the Lower Mainland, Hughes isn't focused on that right now as he's looking to push his team back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs after failing to clinch a berth last season, but told Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre that he knows there plenty of noise on the outside about that.
"It depends on the day and what that noise is When I say, I can handle the noise, that's my own thoughts." Hughes said.
He added, "Obviously, I know there's noise out there. It is weird, but I just know in my head that all I have to do is just control what I can control, which is to try to bring my best every night. At the start of season ... when it wasn't going in for me, what's the point in pouting or wondering: Why didn't this go in or that go in? If you think you're that good, then just go score or go make a play. And that's kind of what I'm trying to do. Just go play and see what I can do."

There's no question that Hughes' future with the Vancouver Canucks will likely hinge on how the team performs this season and if they're able to prove to him that he has a legit chance of winning a Stanley Cup if he were to stick around long-term.
Next summer is going to be really interesting for the Vancouver Canucks because if they feel like they aren't able to get a long-term deal done with their captain, then we'll likely start hearing his name more and more in trade rumors heading into the 2026-27 campaign as General Manager Patrik Allvin, understandably, wouldn't want to let a player of Hughes' calibre just walk to the free agent market.
