Former Vancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs took a subtle shot at his former team recently in regards to organization not having their own practice facility.

For at least the last 10 to 15 years, the Vancouver Canucks have been searching for a practice facility that they can call their own, as they've been using Rogers Arena and the rink at the University of British Columbia.
The team hasn't had any luck finding one and with the Canucks being one of the only teams in the National Hockey League without a practice facility, it's starting to frustrating fans and could potential even hinder in their pursuit of free agents, with former Head Coach Rick Tocchet admitting it played a role in his departure back in the spring.
"I assure you, we're going to get this done, maybe long after I'm here, maybe long after I'm even on this earth but it'll get done. We need 20,000 square feet where we can build a dressing room onto a rink somewhere and just use the ice. We've tried three or four [rinks] and for different reasons it didn't work out." said in April.

Before training camp last month, he went on to add, "The answer is yes. We are closer. We do have a few legitimate options now. We are in conversations with those options. If I say anything beyond that you're going to laugh at me, other than the fact that we should be able to get this done at this point."

The lack of a practice facility hurts the players too and it appears that one of the club's former goaltenders, Arturs Silovs, who was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the offseason was one of those who wasn't too happy with the situation.
"I mean, practice rink, we didn't have it back in Vancouver. We didn't have it. We were skating [at] the university, UBC. «Here it's like, there's your own locker room, you don't have to move your things all the time. You can skate, do your stuff to improve. I think it's a huge bonus for the team." Silovs said recently.

At some point soon, the Vancouver Canucks are going to need to find a location and start building because as of 2027, they'll be the only team in the National Hockey League without a practice facility and that won't be a good look for the organization.
For a franchise that's worth close to $1.9 billion US, and has the money to do so, it shouldn't be this hard to find a location, get shovels in the ground and have a practice facility built within the next two to three years.

Do you think not having a practice facility makes free agents second think coming to the Vancouver Canucks?
