In just a few short weeks, the Vancouver Canucks will be once again gathering in Penticton, British Columbia for training camp with their sights set on returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs next spring and making a run at the ultimate prize.

Vancouver Canucks could allows Marc-Édouard Vlasic get revenge on the San Jose Sharks

Even at 38-years-old and 1323 career games, Vlasic has proven year after year that age is just a number and can be that stay at home defenseman the San Jose Sharks needs, which makes it much more surprising that they decided to buy out the remaining year of his contract.
As a tenured and loyal leader of with the Sharks, Vlasic called out San Jose for the disrespect of not informing him earlier on their decision to cut ties, stating that they led him to believe he'd be back next season early in the summer, before changing their minds.
Speaking to the Le Journal de Quebec, Vlasic made it clear that he wants a shot to prove the Sharks wrong.
I still have a residence in San Jose. It would have been honest of them to tell me right after the season: 'By the way, we might do it [the contract buyout], so get your house ready.' Instead, they did it on June 30. Now, I have a lot to think about.
With that in mind, the agreement would clearly be mutually beneficial as a perfect fit, as the Canucks clearly need more reliable defensive play on the blue line and they can give Vlasic the opportunity to get revenge.
«I'm motivated to train, find a new team and shove it in the Sharks' face.»

The Canucks basically take no risk as they can sign Vlasic to a league-minimum contract to show that, even at 38-years-young, he's got what it takes to be an effective NHL blue liner once again.
