Zadorov was solid for the Canucks since the trade from Calgary and he really flourished under the team's coaching staff, led by Rick Tocchet. Keeping Zadorov around for the next few seasons at minimum would be ideal for the Canucks, if they're able to come to an agreement on money and term.
In a recent interview with Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic and TSN, Zadorov's agent Dan Milstein said that they're going to sit down with the team in the coming days to discuss his future in Vancouver. Milstein added that if the two sides are unable to come to an agreement before July 1st, then he will hit the open market and see what's out there.
Zadorov, a native of Moscow, Russia, appeared in 54 games during the regular season for the Canucks where he had 14 points (five goals, nine assists), 102 penalty minutes and was a plus-six. He went on to add eight points (four goals, four assists) and 26 penalty minutes in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Given the Canucks' need for a defenceman like Nikita Zadorov, who is gritty, physical and can chip in offensively, and his play during his time with Vancouver this season, it seems more likely than not that he'll be back with the team next season and potentially beyond.
