LATEST | Canucks make an announcement regarding Tom Willander
The Canucks made Tom Willander their first round selection on Wednesday night.
A skilled Defenseman who originally played forward, transitioned to the blueline only a few years back, has still a lot to uncover about his potential. Not only were the Canucks really high on the player, but they also held the young man in high-esteem.
The Canucks issued their first statement regarding their newest top prospect:
'Tom Willander is a two-way defenceman, and at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, is a strong skater with the ability to defend, and his position is exactly what #Canucks were looking for.''
The Swede will take an unusual route for an European prospect as he'll be lining up with Boston University in the NCAA's 1st Division.
From Allvin's perspective, the hope is that Willander turns into the perfect player to have on Hughes' right. From what we've seen, this may end up being a much more exciting pick then what we first anticipated.
