BREAKING | 2018 Team Canada scandal: The five players involved confirmed and the charges have dropped
While the whole story has not been released, five former members of Team Canada's 2018 World Junior Gold winners have been asked to surrender to the police.
A first player surrendered over the weekend, as it was confirmed by the Globe and Mail that Alex Formenton had reported.
TSN reporter Rick Westhead broke the news that Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote would surrender on the upcoming Monday.
Emily Kaplan explained how the NHL may react regarding the events. In the present case, the NHL commissioner could choose to either suspend or terminate each of these players' contracts:
''Each player has taken a leave of absence from their respective teams, which has been paid.
If/when police announce charges, their statuses could change. Likely contract termination or suspension.''
The lawyers representing Michael McLeod and Dillon Dube have already issued statements confirming that they would be pleading not guilty:
The London Police will hold a press conference regarding the event this Monday.
