The Canucks' management was on the hot seat yesterday when Jim Rutherford stood before the media in a rare press conference. Though it had been reported that the Canucks had already given teams their ask for the offensive winger, Andrei Kuzmenko, Rutherford had great news and declared that the talks had begun. Their goal up to this day is still to retain his service and it hasn't changed.
Dan Milstein, his agent, also confirmed that his client had chosen Vancouver when he first signed his ELC. Kuzmenko loves the city, the fans, and the hot Canadian Market.
If I were the GM of a contending club, I'd surely be close to this situation, especially since no extension has been signed yet. Even though he's not on the trade market, with his cheap cap hit ($0.950M), teams will definitely come knocking. Should the Canucks re-sign him? Or should they capitalize opportunity to buy low and sell high?
