Journalist goes on hard rant on the Canucks and lists 3 players that must leave ASAP
The Canucks have had major issues this season putting on a respectable and consistent effort and it looks like the fans, journalists and analyst surrounding the team have had their share. Thomas Drance went on a rant in his most recent article in The Athletic regarding the team's most recent tenure.
He started by describing last night games and only needed a paragraph to do so;
'Ghastly turnovers, lackadaisical play, blown breakouts, lost puck battles you name it, you got it. Every hockey sin in the book on full display for the paying customers at Rogers Arena.''
He then referred to Bruce Boudreau statement from the season's beginning when he stated that missing the postseason would be a «DISASTER». With the Canucks being closer to the leagues worst 5 teams rather then the last wildcard spot, he sees this disaster coming at a great pace. That's where Drance goes hard on the Canucks and on every level:
'This team doesn't want to rebuild. The word is anathema at every level of the organization in the ownership suite, in the hockey operations offices above Griffiths Way, in the coaches office and in the locker room.''
According to Drance, the Canucks should go on a tear down, dismantle the whole group and make a run at the bottom 5 clubs. Increasing the chances for a lottery pick. Drance lists Bo Horvat, Andrei Kuzmenko and Luke Schenn as players that must jump ship due to their trade value, their age and their contractual status. At this point, the Canucks can't take the risk to lose them for nothing. Horvat's value being the highest it'll ever be, he believes that yesterday was the right time to trade him.
Is Drance being a little dramatical? Are the Canucks up to that point yet or should they still hang on to the possibility that their only 1 or 2 pieces away from contention?
