LATEST | Important update following court proceedings in 2018 Canadian World Junior case
Monday is a big day for the investigation into the allegations surrounding five members of the 2018 Canadian World Junior hockey team.
This morning, lawyers for the five members of the team that have been charged - Dillon Dube, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote - met via video conference with the crown attorney for the arraignment and it was shared that the case has been adjourned until April 30th.
There were no charges read this morning or any pleas heard, this was because the case has been adjourned for over two months.
"Assistant Crown attorney Heather Donkers said during the appearance that lawyers for each player will receive disclosure, consisting of a package of "substantial" evidence collected by London police during their investigation on Monday or Tuesday. The contents of this disclosure will be reviewed and discussed during the next hearing." Sportsnet's Paul D. Grant said.
There has also been a publication ban issued by the judge in London, Ontario, which bars the release of any information into the names of the alleged victim in this case or the two witnesses.
This afternoon at 2 p.m. ET, London Police will give an update on their investigation to members of the media and it can be watched across Canada on TSN or any of the major news outlets such as CTV News and CBC News Network.
