LATEST | Major turnaround in Ethan Bear's situation with the Canucks
Over the last little while, rumours have been swirling as to what the Vancouver Canucks may do with pending restricted free agent Ethan Bear.
Bear underwent surgery on his shoulder after suffering an injury while with Canada at the IIHF World Championship and he won't be able to return to action until December.
Reports have suggested that the Canucks may not issue Bear a qualifying offer by Friday at 5 p.m. ET, making him an unrestricted free agent.
But now there's been a pretty significant development regarding Bear's situation with the Canucks. The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta said in a tweet on Tuesday that the Canucks have spoken with other teams about trading Bear's RFA rights this week if they're unable to sign him.
"Told the Canucks have also had talks with clubs about potentially moving Bear, as well." Pagnotta said.
When speaking with reporters, Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin said that the team continues to speak with Bear and his agent and that it's too early to tell if he'll be issued a qualifying offer.
"It's a little bit too early for us to say anything on that. Regarding Ethan Bear, we're still talking to his agent there. We'll know more here coming into Friday." Allvin said.
Bear, 26, Bear appeared in 61 games during his first season with the Vancouver Canucks, where he recorded 16 points (three goals, 13 assists), 25 penalty minutes and was a plus-six.
