LATEST | Maple Leafs Head Coach could be facing another fine after a controversial call
The Maple Leafs met with the Hurricanes last night in a spirited tilt. Two top teams in the Eastern Conference and tons of emotions were involved.
The officiating is once again asking to be reviewed. Late in the 1st period, Calle Jarnkrok was called for goaltender interference for an inexplicable reason.
Jarnkrok was making its way to the net when the Canes' defender cross checked and led the Leafs' forward right on top of their netminder. Jarnkrok was subsequently called for goaltender interference, here's the sequence:
This is, without a doubt, a questionable call. Jarnkrok never demonstrated any intentions to engage in a contact with Kotchekov and was penalized anyways. Sheldon Keefe, once again, openly criticized the call and the referees.
Sheldon Keefe has already taken heat for the words he shared about the officiating. It seems as if the number of «stupid» calls have increased tons this year and it may be time to improve, either the quality of referees or perhaps introduce a coach's challenge for more calls.
