WATCH: Boudreau gets emotional during an interview and cut his media availability short
The worst-kept secret in the NHL as of right now. Bruce Boudreau will be leaving his spot to Rick Tocchet, pending the team's official announcement.
Boudreau generated quite the buzz this morning when he didn't show up on the ice for this morning's skate ahead of their tilt against the Avalanche later tonight. Boudreau joked about it in his media availability:
Everyone is well aware of the situation and a man of experience like Boudreau is certainly not blind to the animosity going on around him. Many sources have stipulated that Rick Tocchet was taking over, and they've even advanced that he'd be in place by Monday's practice.
Boudreau was available to the media and was asked about the rumors going around. When he asked what it meant for him to coach in the NHL, he got emotional and politely ended the interview:
''I don't know, I'd be a fool to say I don't know what's been going on, but like I said before you come to work and you realize just how great the game is.''
Boudreau has been an NHL coach for the last 15 years, whether or not he's the man the Canucks needed. Whether or not he's the man Rutherford and Allvin wanted behind the bench, he deserved to be treated better.
