MAJOR : Sharks star forward granted permission to talk to other teams
Just like the Canucks, the Sharks aren't expected to be a part of the playoff portrait and with big names soon popping up among the free agents market, they are looking to fetch a big return for their forwards.
Timo Meier will be a restricted free agent by the end of the season, but it seems that he and the Sharks have decided to take different roads. Meier has developed into quite the star player. He's been putting up numbers that'll definitely help him fetch an enormous raise since the winger carries a $6M AAV until the end of the year and has been a point-per-game player for the last two years scoring 60 goals in his last 122 games.
Elliotte Friedman made an intriguing statement when he revealed that the Sharks had authorized Meier's clan to talk with teams in order to facilitate a trade :
A big-bodied winger, Meier will gather lots of interest and if a team can sign him long-term before making the deal, you can expect the Sharks to get a hefty return in this one. Meier is still a restricted free agent, he is only 26, and he's proven that he can do quite the damages.
Now, the Canucks have pretty much made it clear that they had done their best to re-sign their captain Bo Horvat. Since it seems the two parties can't reach an agreement, should they allow his agent to talk to other teams?
