WATCH: Tocchet addresses the rumors and it confirms everything
The rumors surrounding the coaching job have not stopped for the last two weeks. It's clear now that Bruce Boudreau will not renew his contract, or even go to the end of his contract since it's pretty much confirmed that Boudreau will not make it to the end of the Swanson.
Rick Tocchet, the current TNT analyst, is believed to be the one taking over. Nobody had heard from him or Rutherford that the two had been in touch. Today though, the reaction on set pretty much confirmed that Tocchet was leaving. See for yourselves:
He confirmed he had been in talks with Rutherford and everybody was surprised by the man himself on set.
The only thing still unclear to this point is how long will this fiasco keep going for Boudreau. Friedman had his say on this and he shared on Canucks Central:
«I think there's a good chance it could be next week but I can't pin it down 100%.»
Obviously, nobody likes the way this is going, the way the organization is treating the current coach is classless.
Tocchet was last behind an NHL bench in the 2020-2021 seasons with the Coyotes, where he spent time with OEL and Garland. Can he do better than what Bruce has done with the pieces in place?
