AHL Head Coaches fuming offering punches from one bench to another

The Bakersfield Condors handily defeated the Tucson Roadrunners 4-1 in the AHL on Saturday. Tucson outshot Bakersfield but ultimately could not score more than the lone goal in the loss.

Perhaps more interestingly, though, was a heated exchange between Tucson assistant coach and former NHLer Zack Stortini and Bakersfield head coach Colin Chaulk.

Stortini, a veteran of over 250 NHL games, recorded just 41 points but over 700 penalty minutes during his brief NHL career, split between the Edmonton Oilers and a sole game for the Nashville Predators. He also recorded a career-high 299 penalty minutes during the 2013-14 season with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL.

Colin Chaulk, who played in many professional leagues, including the ECHL, AHL, IHL, and a brief stint in Italy, was a regular frequenter of the penalty box, though not to the extent of Stortini.

It is safe to say that Chaulk should feel relieved that the situation did not escalate further.
