The hockey world is in mourning after the passing of a 15-year-old youth player from Northern Ontario on Easter weekend.

It's been a tough few weeks in the province of Ontario following the passing of former Junior A goaltender Antoine Bourdeau at the end of March and unfortunately, more sad news has struck the hockey community in recent days.
Over the Easter weekend, a youth hockey player from the U16 AA Soo Jr. Greyhound program, which is in the northern part of the province, has sadly lost his life at the age of 15-years-old.

According to Soo Today, Connor Dunn, a 15-year-old hockey player, has been identified as the victim after being hit by an alleged drunk driver early on Sunday morning.
Dunn was out riding an e-bike with one of his friends from school when an alleged drunk driver, 18-year-old Gregory Parise, struck him in the west end of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
"Dunn, 15, has been identified as the teenager tragically killed in the west end by a suspected drunk driver over Easter weekend. Police say he was riding an e-bike with a fellow Korah student early Sunday morning when it was hit by a pickup truck at Goulais Avenue and Third Line. Dunn's friend sustained serious injuries but survived." Michael Friscolanti of Soo Today said.

Friscolanti shared that Gregory Parise is facing several different charges including impaired driving causing death and that these charges haven't been tested in court, with the alleged driver set for a bail hearing on Thursday.
During the second intermission of Game 2 between the Montreal Canadiens and Washington Capitals on Wednesday night, Sportsnet's David Amber sent out condolences on behalf of the network.
"Our hockey family here at Sportsnet sends out its deepest condolences to the Dunn family of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. The Sault, one of the great hockey communities in all of Canada, and this week tragedy hit as 15-year-old Connor Dunn died after being struck by an alleged impaired driver on Easter Sunday." David Amber said.

He added, "Connor played forward on the U16 AA Jr. Greyhounds. Our thoughts are with the Dunn family: Mom Melanie, Dad John, Connor's younger brother Cash, and their grandmother Sheila."
The thoughts of everyone here at Canucks Daily are with the family, friends and teammates of Connor Dunn at this difficult time.
